Gurfa is an ancient arabic word that literally means 'water that can be held in one hand'. A small, small amount, but of the same substance as the waves of the sea, the nourishment of grains and roses, the frost of the morning and also of human beings, whose bodies are mainly made up of water.
This little word reminds us that everything is connected, that each of us is part of a much larger reality, that it is necessary to give importance and attention to what is precious, so as not to let it slip through our fingers.
Water is sacred and mysterious: in it, billions of years ago, life originated and, where it is missing, nothing can survive. Water also has a voice and sings in many ways: the dripping of the rain, the lapping of the sea, the gurgling of a stream, the roar of a waterfall ...
Gurfa is a handful of life, music and words. Few songs held in the hands with such care, and now ready to be let go and flow between the fingers, from water to water.
